The overall goal of therapy is to build internal support structures.
From birth, we all get used to relying on external things – parents, other adults, then this circle of support becomes wider – the state, partners in relationships, sometimes even our own children, bosses, masters, religions, egregores, the past…
What expectations do we have from these supports? Always be there, guarantee my safety, give me love. But there are always questions about any external support.
Firstly, it can never be eternal and guarantee absolute peace. Secondly, it requires something in return. And we have to adapt, be convenient, give our life forces, make compromises with ourselves, and even betray ourselves.
So, therapy allows you to build your own inner support from love and trust in the world. And, oh miracle – this support is always with you, it guarantees you unconditional love, total acceptance, and therefore everyone and everything around you, it asks for nothing in return, but only fills you with love and desire to live every moment, tingling from the depth of experiences of seemingly ordinary moments, responds to your true desires, pours tons of energy into them, answers all questions, rejoices with you in every moment.
Is this not enough? to still say: no, guys, I’ll manage on my own, I’ll just look for external support even better, demand even more from them, and control them even better!
Is it not enough to simply start doing it?
Yes, life will still arrange everything so that sooner or later you will build your inner support, but what you will build through obstacles, numerous pitfalls, and many lives can be resolved with firm intention and systematic work in therapy.
For how long? I don’t know, we are all very different with different combinations of traumatic and resourceful experiences, everything is very individual for everyone.
But this path definitely allows you to start living your basic happy life faster.
I speak as someone who has gone through this therapy, so to speak, from the emotional bottom to the deepest satisfaction with life, and it seems that there is no end to this depth, the process of immersion continues, now with clients as well))
